IMISCOE PhD Summer School is organized by Center on Global Migration at Goteborg University together with the Association of Migration Research, GAR, a non-governmental organization based in Istanbul. 

The EPC is looking for a Policy Analyst to join its European Migration and Diversity programme. The analyst’s activities will relate to research, policy recommendations and providing a platform for debate on European migration policy developments. 

The Human Rights Centre of the United Nations-mandated University for Peace is accepting applications for two upcoming six weeks online courses on the topics of Climate Change and Human Mobility (10 January – 20 February, 2018) and Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Development (17 January – 27 February, 2018). On 04-05 December 2018, the Iraqi Government organised the second drafting workshop for a ‘Policy on Engagement with Iraqis Abroad’ in Baghdad. The purpose of the second drafting workshop was to support the Iraqi government in drafting a ‘Policy on Engagement with Iraqis Abroad’ (diaspora engagement policy) which after that would be finalised. 

A team of researchers at UNU-MERIT and its School of Governance has been mandated by Transparency International (TI) to conduct a study on female politicians’ engagement in the fight against corruption. The overarching aim of this project is to generate evidence to promote female politicians’ leadership in transparency and anti-corruption policies.

Dr. Katie Kuschminder will be a team member in the “Memorials to people who have died and to those missing during migration: a global project” led by Ann Singleton (University of Bristol) and funded by the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) Research Development Fund.

A team of researchers from UNU-MERIT and its School of Governance were recently commissioned by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH to quantitatively and qualitatively analyse the Pakistani diaspora in Germany.

On 14 and 15 February 2019, Dr. Katie Kuschminder andProf. Melissa Siegel will be participating in the internal kick-off meeting of the H2020 project ‘Advancing Alternative Migration Governance’ (ADMIGOV) in Amsterdam.

To mark the 300th anniversary of the publication of  Daniel Defoe’s famous novel Robinson Crusoe (1719), CETAPS (NOVA-FCSH) and the Portuguese National Library  organize, on the 14th and 15th October 2019, a conference to debate past and contemporary experience(s)  of forced migration, namely real, imaginary and imagined universes of refugees, exiled  and shipwrecked, conditions and positions metaphorised by the novelist in the characters Crusoe and Friday.
