Vacancy: Postdoctoral Position in Comparative Project on Street-level Discrimination of Mobile EU Citizens (EU-SOCIETY)

The University of Konstanz, Germany, is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in a comparative project on street-level discrimination of mobile EU-citizens.

The postdoctoral position is situated at the Chair of Public Administration at the intersection of public policy and public administration (see ). The successful candidate will join our team in the multi-method research project “Equal access to equal rights? Tackling street-level discrimination against mobile EU citizens across four national administrative contexts (EU-SOCIETY)”, a collaboration of Eva Thomann (University of Konstanz), Anita Manatschal (University of Neuchatel), and Christian Adam (Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen) which is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the German Research Foundation. The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate on the design, implementation, and analysis of qualitative vignette-based interviews with welfare workers in Switzerland and Spain. The goal of these interviews is to understand welfare decision processes, the administrative contexts in practice, and causal mechanisms underlying the effects of different anti-discrimination measures. Next to the project work, the postdoctoral researcher is encouraged to pursue their independent publication projects.

Application deadline is 30 August 2023.
