Following the successful previous editions of Paris (2018), Utrecht (2019), Milan (virtual-2020), and Bordeaux (2021), the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI), Social Sciences area, is pleased to announce the 5th Workshop in the series on “Migration, Globalization and the Knowledge Economy”, to be held in L’Aquila (Italy), on May 17-18, 2022. 

NB: The workshop is planned to take place in person, in compliance with health regulations and policies. Based on the evolving circumstances, we will communicate any variation of the format to the participants in due course. 

In this video Prof. Siegel looks at the Ukrainian Migration Information Hub, established by the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration at UCL. The Centre has primarily focused on the effects on reception policies for displaced Ukrainians, as well as looking at the demographics of Ukrainian society. 

Prof. Sabyasachi Basu Ray Chaudhury (Rabindra Bharati University, Mahanirban Calcutta Research Group), will give the upcoming Seminar Series on Forced Migration talk which will be titled “Governance of Forced Migration in South Asia: Need for a Decolonial Approach?”

The Swiss National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) for migration and mobility studies nccr – on the move brings together research projects from the social sciences, economics and law. Managed from the University of Neuchâtel, the network comprises eight Higher Education Institutions in Switzerland. The nccr – on the move promotes equal opportunities, values diversity and fosters an inclusive research and learning environment.

Echoing the sentiments of Maastricht University, the MACIMIDE Board is deeply concerned by the conflict in Ukraine and the resulting humanitarian crises. UM has created a webpage that includes information on the assistance available to staff and students, on the ways in which others can help and on information regarding the conflict. The help that can be given ranges from practical assistance to financial contributions among others. The website also highlights information on some up coming events.
