International Conference: Africa and Europe in a Disorderly World: Navigating Complexities in a Changing Global System (University of Pretoria, 18-21 September 2023) 

Onallia Osei, PhD candidate at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, will defend her PhD thesis titled Stayer Youth Shaping Their Transnational Family Lives: Experiences and aspirations of migrants’ children living in Ghana on June 20, 2023 at 13 o’clock.

Dr. Raphaela Schweiger, Yale & Robert Bosch Stiftung 

Raphaela Schweiger will speak about her new book ‘Beyond states: The Global Compact for Migration and the role of non-state actors and cities‘, and her take on the evolution and future of global migration governance.

There are huge potential gains in moving, both internally, and especially internationally. This is especially true for developing countries.

PRIO invites applications for this three-day course, which will be taught in person in Oslo in October 2023. The application deadline is 31 May.

The IMISCOE Standing Committee on Migrant Transnationalism is looking for PhD representatives. 

The eighth Global Forum on Remittances, Investment and Development (GFRID) Summit 2023, co-organized by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the United Nations Secretary General’s Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) and the World Bank Group, will take place at the United Nations Office in Nairobi (Kenya) from 14 to 16 June. 

The Radboud University Network on Migrant Inclusion (RUNOMI) organizes two summer school courses. Application deadline for both courses is 15 May 2023.

The editorial team of IOM’s Migration Policy Practice (MPP) is pleased to share a new call for abstracts. Submissions are welcome on a range of topics including evolving/new migration patterns and processes, as well as particular migrant groups such as migrant workers, international students, displaced persons (IDPs and refugees), and/or specific issues related to gender/demography, nationality, migration status, among others. Submissions highlighting new methodologies in the field of migration and/or opportunities for innovative policies and practices for State and civil society actors are encouraged. The deadline for submissions is 26 May 2023.
