PhD Defence

Marie Labussière will defend her PhD dissertation “Native born but not yet citizen. Citizenship and educational outcomes of the children of immigrants in the Netherlands” on Wednesday 3 November at 10.00 in the Aula at Minderbroedersberg 4-6. 

Yip Ching Yu will defend her PhD dissertation entitled “Immigrant Welfare Dynamics in the Netherlands” on Tuesday, 7 December 2021, at 10:00 hours.

On 2 June 2022 at 16:00, Gladys Akom Ankobrey will defend her PhD thesis entitled ‘You can’t limit yourself to one country’: Mobility trajectories and transnational engagements of young Dutch-Ghanaians, in the Aula of Maastricht University at Minderbroedersberg 4-6. 

Migrant decision-making is not simply a one-off decision to leave a country of origin in order to reach a specific destination country. Rather, migrants may revisit and revise their decision-making and plans in response to new information, experiences, opportunities and constraints.

Onallia Osei, PhD candidate at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, will defend her PhD thesis titled Stayer Youth Shaping Their Transnational Family Lives: Experiences and aspirations of migrants’ children living in Ghana on June 20, 2023 at 13 o’clock.
