On 16 January 2020, the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) and Maastricht University (UM) are organising the Conference Internationalisation with the theme ‘Borderless education as the driver of the region’. The purpose of this conference is to highlight both the added value of and recent interesting developments in the field of internationalisation.

The UC Berkeley Interdisciplinary Migration Initiative is delighted to host the 3rd annual Summer Institute in Migration Research Methods (SIMRM), to be held at the University of California, Berkeley campus from May 26-June 5, 2020. The Institute is organized and directed by Irene Bloemraad (UCB) and Jennifer Van Hook (Pennsylvania State University). 

On Wednesday 5 February 2020, from 15.30-17.00 a GTD Colloquium by Dr. Andrew M. Fischer will take place in the Spiegelzaal, Grote Gracht 80-82 (Soiron Building). The topic of the lecture is: The political economy of externally financing social policy in developing countries.

On the 10th of April (20:00) Maastricht Working on Europe is organising the programme ‘This is London: despair, poverty and unfulfilled dreams’. In the book with the same name, the British-French journalist Ben Judah chronicles his journey through the migrant communities of London, showing us the transformation of his birthplace into a true migrant city. There are many lessons to draw from that transformation for the rest of Europe. 
 

On 12 February, Prof Dr Maarten Vink (FASoS./MACIMIDE/GLOBALCIT) will speak at the Migration Seminar on the topic: “Citizenship in the migrant life course: 10 observations on immigrant naturalization”.
