Call for Papers

Prof. Maartje van der Woude (Leiden University) announces an online conference organized by Oxford based research group Border Criminologies and the Network of Crimmigration scholars (CINETS) entitled “Borderlands – Getting to the core of crimmigation”. 

For a series of panels at the 2022 IMISCOE conference MITRA invites papers that address migrant transnationalism with analytical perspectives on time and temporalities. The conference will take place in Oslo, Norway, from 29 June to 1 July 2022 and participation can be either physical or virtual. Deadline: 1 December 2021.

In May 2022, the University of Birmingham’s Institute for Global Innovation will host the first 
conference of the Forum for Global Challenges.

The University of Oxford’s Migration and Mobility Network (MMN) and Nuffield College invite 
academics, early career researchers, postgraduate students, policy experts, activists, artists, 
practitioners, and other stakeholders to present original research during the conference “Measuring Migration” which will take place in person and online (hybrid model) on June 9-10, 2022 at Nuffield College (University of Oxford).

Climate change and environmental disasters drive and disproportionately impact displaced people, refugees and migrants. In 2020, environmental disasters were responsible for 30.7 million newly displaced persons worldwide (IDMC 2021), with the vast majority linked to climate-related issues.

Following the successful previous editions of Paris (2018), Utrecht (2019), Milan (virtual-2020), and Bordeaux (2021), the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI), Social Sciences area, is pleased to announce the 5th Workshop in the series on “Migration, Globalization and the Knowledge Economy”, to be held in L’Aquila (Italy), on May 17-18, 2022. 

NB: The workshop is planned to take place in person, in compliance with health regulations and policies. Based on the evolving circumstances, we will communicate any variation of the format to the participants in due course. 

IOM’s Migration Research Series (MRS), which focuses on policy- oriented research to increase the understanding of migration and inform policies and programmes, is welcoming abstracts on the impacts of the Ukrainian conflict in Europe and beyond. 

The two Global Compacts on migration have advocated the increased use of digital technologies to enhance the protection, welfare, and development of refugees and migrants.
