The Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC), based in Berlin, Germany, responds to International Organisation for Migration’s call for upgrading its capacity to collect and analyse migration data, and to develop closer partnerships with data providers and academic institutions. GMDAC acts as a “data hub” for decision-makers and practitioners seeking the best available migration data. 

In three new videos, Melissa Siegel looks at: (i) the history of migration in Singapore; (ii) their migration policy; and, (iii) the current situation in practice. 

In her latest video, Prof. Siegel looks at the basics of investor visas from their historical background to why we see them today and the attitudes towards them. Then she goes into some famous examples of investor visas and differences between them.

As of April 2021, Tim Huijts (UM-SBE) has started a part-time position (0.2 FTE) as a Professor of Sociology at the Centre for Global Health Inequalities Research (CHAIN) in Norway (https://www.ntnu.edu/chain). 

In this series Melissa Siegel looks at migration in Egypt over three videos. The first video examines the history of Egyptian Migration with a focus on the period since the 19th Century. 

In this new video Melissa Siegel dives in to the Atlas of Migration developed by the European Commission’s Knowledge Center on Migration and Demography. The Atlas is a collection of data from numerous sources in a central, easily accessible online platform. In her video Melissa addresses the history and composition of the atlas.
