Introducing “JOINclusion – Joint problem-solving strategy towards social inclusion of children with a migrant background”

“JOINclusion – Joint problem-solving strategy towards social inclusion of children with a migrant background”, a project co-funded by Erasmus+, promotes the social inclusion of students in primary and first-degree secondary schools (ages 7-12) using a mobile app in the form of a serious game. The tool, designed in collaboration with psychologists, aims to develop scenarios that will allow the students to train their empathy, strengthen pro-social behaviour and promote more inclusive schools with a particular focus on the integration of kids with a migrant background. The Project is currently in its final phase where the second version of the game and an authoring tool designed as a teaching instrument to seamlessly generate learning material for the game will be tested and evaluated in real environments. Currently, we are looking for primary schools across Europe interested in piloting this framework. For those interested, the JOINclusion project is offering 1) access to the authoring tool to generate customizable game scenarios, 2) a collaborative serious game to teach primary school students about social inclusion through empathy, 3) a basic data analytics tool to evaluate the student’s performance, 4) an online (asynchronous) training via Moodle course and 5) online training and technical support. The game is currently available in English, Dutch, Italian and Greek. If you are interested in participating, please visit https://dke.maastrichtuniversity.nl/JOINclusion/contact-us/.
