Special Issue on “Migration and Development” at Journal of Development Economics
Paper Submission Deadline: January 15, 2024

The Journal of Development Economics (https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/journal-ofdevelopment-economics) is having an open call for papers for a special issue on “Migration and Development”. Submitted papers are expected to make a significant contribution to understanding the determinants and consequences of migration for developing economies. Possible topics include the effects of migration on poverty, inequality, and human capital formation; social networks and migration; climate change and refugee migration; migration and globalization; remittances; brain drain; migration and institutional/technological/demographic change in sending countries, today and in the past. While new submissions are most welcome, this call follows from the 16th annual AFD-World Bank Migration and Development Conference that took place at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business on October 2-3, 2023.

Sam Bazzi (UC San Diego), Patricia Cortes (BU), Caglar Ozden (World Bank), Hillel Rapoport (Paris School of Economics) and Dean Yang (University of Michigan) will serve as co-guest editors. The special issue is expected to be published in 2025.
