Call for papers & posters: ARC-UNHCR Conference on Refugee Studies & Forced Displacement 2026

The ASEAN Research Center at the Asia School of Business is pleased to announce the sixth ARC-UNHCR Conference on Refugee Studies and Forced Displacement (REFCON 2026), organised in collaboration with UNHCR Malaysia, the UN Refugee Agency. The 2026 conference is tentatively scheduled for 9–11 June 2026 and will be held at the Asia School of Business in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 

We are now accepting paper and poster submissions on a broad range of topics related to refugees and displaced populations. This year, we also welcome research focusing on stateless persons

Suggested themes include (but are not limited to): 

  1. Protection and Legal Frameworks for Refugees and Stateless Persons 
  2. Livelihoods, Health and Education for Refugees and Stateless Persons 
  3. Empowerment, Agency, and Community-Led Advocacy Among Stateless and Displaced Groups 
  4. Mobility, Borders, and Regional Cooperation in Refugee and Statelessness Governance 
  5. Public Perceptions, Media Narratives, and Social Attitudes Toward Refugees and Stateless Persons 

Submission Details: 

  1. Researchers, scholars, policymakers, practitioners, civil society organisations, and individuals with lived experience are invited to submit proposals for paper or poster presentations. 
  2. We welcome multidisciplinary approaches and original contributions from various fields of study. 
  3. The submission deadline is 28 February 2026
