The SOLiDi consortium and Deutsches Zentrum für Integrations- und Migrationsforschung (DeZIM) e.V. are looking for a talented and motivated researcher to join the International Training Network and write a PhD on solidarity in diversity. 

Project Description: Foreign nationals with a similar background frequently face varying chances to obtain German visas, work permits or passports. The Administrative Inequality project examines unequal treatment of foreigners in the domain of visa and naturalisation decisions by comparing the decision-making behaviour of German consulates across the world and of citizenship offices across German counties and states. 

The PhD grant is part of a research project funded by the Regional Council of Aquitaine, under the joint supervision of Francesco Lissoni and Ernest Miguelez. The selected candidate is expected to complete their dissertation in three years, although extensions can be granted, if properly motivated. The proposed subject is linked to a larger research program, for which the prospective supervisor has submitted a proposal to ANR, the French National Research Agency. The aim of the project is to study the attractiveness of French doctorates Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for foreign students; as well as the ability of the French science and innovation system to retain the best foreign graduates. 

PhD candidates in the field of governance of (I) migration and (II) remittances  

Project description 
The Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA) at Leiden University seeks to appoint 2 full-time, 4 year, PhD candidates to carry out research (80%) and teaching (20%) activities for the ERC funded research project JUSTREMIT. 

We are inviting applications for 2 PhD Positions within the framework of the European Research Council project “Reintegrate: Reintegration Governance”. The Reintegrate project is funded for five years (2021-2026) through a 1.5 million euro ‘Starting Grant’ from the European Research Council. Funding from the European Research Council means that applicants of all nationalities are eligible for this project. We are looking for enthusiastic applicants willing to contribute to a dynamic research environment focused on academic, policy and societal impact. 

A call for new three-year PhD scholarship has just been announced, for a project co-supervised between the University of Edinburgh Centre of African Studies (CAS) and the African Studies Centre at the University of Leiden (ASCL) to begin in September 2022. 

The Swiss National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) for migration and mobility studies nccr – on the move brings together research projects from the social sciences, economics and law. Managed from the University of Neuchâtel, the network comprises eight Higher Education Institutions in Switzerland. The NWA (Dutch Research Agenda) project ‘Dilemmas of doing Diversity’ (DIDI) are looking for 4 PhD candidates and 3 postdocs. The PhD candidates and postdocs will work closely together, but will be based a different institutions (Leiden, EUR, Delft of NIDI). 

Concordia University is recruiting for funded MA and PhD positions in immigration and sanctuary cities. Funded positions are available for the Fall 2023 at the Concordia Research Chair on the Politics of Immigration. All of these positions will contribute to the work of Dr Mireille Paquet.
