Two PhD vacancies at the University of Konstanz on “Administrative inequality: the case of foreign nationals in Germany”

Project Description: Foreign nationals with a similar background frequently face varying chances to obtain German visas, work permits or passports. The Administrative Inequality project examines unequal treatment of foreigners in the domain of visa and naturalisation decisions by comparing the decision-making behaviour of German consulates across the world and of citizenship offices across German counties and states.

PhD grant for “Migration and Innovation” in Bordeaux

The PhD grant is part of a research project funded by the Regional Council of Aquitaine, under the joint supervision of Francesco Lissoni and Ernest Miguelez. The selected candidate is expected to complete their dissertation in three years, although extensions can be granted, if properly motivated. The proposed subject is linked to a larger research program, for which the prospective supervisor has submitted a proposal to ANR, the French National Research Agency. The aim of the project is to study the attractiveness of French doctorates Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for foreign students; as well as the ability of the French science and innovation system to retain the best foreign graduates.
