On 21 December, the Global Citizenship Observatory (GLOBALCIT) launched it’s new website at http://globalcit.eu/ <http://globalcit.eu/>. 

Next Wednesday, 31 January 2018, we welcome Ayla Bonfiglio to share her latest work with us. The migration seminar series is offered jointly by UNU-MERIT/MGSoG in collaboration with MACIMIDE, and features researchers and practitioners whose work addresses human mobility. 

Luana Russo and Maarten Vink are part of an international consortium that has been awarded a European Commission Action Grant to work on the project “Fostering Awarness, Inclusion and Recognition of EU mobile citizens’ Political Rights” (FAIREU). The project aims to foster the successful inclusion of the EU mobile citizens in their host EU country’s civic and political life through the provision of a holist approach to tackling obstacles they face when exercising their political rights. 

DAMR seeks to actively engage with PhD researchers working on migration issues.

A special invitation from the Dutch Association for Migration Research (DAMR): 

Samuel David Schmid is a PhD researcher at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. Supervised by Rainer Bauböck and Maarten Vink, he comparatively investigates the relationship between the openness of borders and the inclusiveness of citizenship.

Between January 22 and 26, Veronika Fajth and Melissa Siegel hosted a workshop for the Erasmus+ project HESTIA (Helping Students in Acceptance).

Lillian Frost started as a Junior Visiting Fellow at MACIMIDE on February 19. She is a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science at George Washington University (GWU), with primary research interests in forced migration, citizenship, and Middle East politics.

On Wednesday, March 21, Lisa Andersson (OECD) will present “Interrelations between public policies, migration and development”. The seminar will be held from 12:00-13:00 in the UNU-MERIT building at Boschstraat 24 in room 1.23. A sandwich lunch will be provided.  The migration seminar series is offered jointly by MGSoG/UNU-MERIT in collaboration with MACIMIDE, and features researchers and practitioners whose work addresses human mobility. 

Bilisuma B. Dito, Assistant Professor in Globalization and Development Studies at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, represents MACIMIDE at H2020 Cross Migration event in Florence.
