The UNU Institute on Globalization, Culture and Mobility (UNU-GCM) invites applications for up to three (3) internships at its office in Barcelona between 1 October 2015 and 31 December 2015.

UNU-GCM is currently recruiting an administrative intern to join us in Barcelona from end of October 2016- January 2017. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in a number of ongoing initiatives that provide a unique window into the working processes of UNU-GCM.

General Functions: 

The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Regional Evidence for Migration Analysis and Policy (REMAP) project was developed in response to the critical need to collect and analyze information on human mobility in, to and from Bangladesh and to contribute to evidence-based development programming and to enhance national and regional (migration) policy development.

Context: 

In 2015, IOM developed a Migration Governance Framework (MiGOF) to help define what“well-managed migration policy” might look like at the national level. The MiGOF was welcomed by IOM’s Member States the same year. The Migration Governance Indicators (MGI) were developed to assess national frameworks and help to operationalize the MiGOF.

IOM works in the five broad areas of migration management: migration and development, facilitating migration, regulating migration, addressing forced migration, and the implications of climate change on migration. Cross‐cutting activities include the promotion of international migration law, policy debate and guidance, protection of migrants’ rights, migration health and the gender dimension of migration. The key responsibility of the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) is to formulate regional strategies and plans of action and to provide programmatic and administrative support to the countries within its region. Several Regional Thematic Units are based at the ROAP to fulfill this responsibility.
