On 23rd September a group of academics and practitioners came together for the MACIMIDE Annual conference in Maastricht. With some people able to join in person, while others joined online. The conference was opened by Karlijn Haagsman (one of the Centre Co-Directors). Her opening remarks were followed by an interactive session by Julia Reinhold regarding perceptions of migration and the presentation of the Expats x Migrants photo exhibition. At this point Tetsuro Miyazaki, the photographer spoke on the inspiration and process that resulted in the exhibition. 

Join Indiana University at the IU Europe Gateway in Berlin for a symposium on the transnational dynamics and repercussions of the movement of displaced peoples between Africa and Europe. This two-day symposium seeks to feature scholars, practitioners, activists, members of local refugee communities, and artists in a dialogue that investigates how education, national security, humanitarian aid, social services, policies, economics, children, families, and identities are being impacted in communities in Africa and Europe. 

This workshop takes a holistic approach to examine the role and future of nationality in a globalised world, taking citizenship by investment (CBI) schemes as a point of departure. It explores the implications and impacts of CBI schemes, followed by a discussion on the instrumental turn of nationality in different areas, including EU law, private international law, human rights law, immigration law, diplomatic protection and international investment law.

UNU-MERIT are organising a week long series of events covering a variety of topics to mark their 15th Anniversary. 

This autumn UNU-MERIT will organise its fifth annual internal conference. The aim of this conference is to increase interactions between UNU-MERIT researchers, especially between the various research themes. Paper presentation is open to all UNU-MERIT staff, PhD fellows and affiliated researchers on all UNU-MERIT research topics.
