The Refugee Studies Centre’s 2019 Conference will take place in New College, Holywell Street, Oxford, OX1 3BN., on 18-19 March 2019. The topic of the Conference will be “Democratizing Displacement”.  The deadline for the applications is 7 December 2018.

International Chair Innocent III calls on all interested researchers to submit papers related to the human mobility and the reception of refugees according to History of Law, Canon Law, Roman Law, Comparative Law, Philosophy, Theology, History, Sociology, Historiography and any other discipline related to the main theme, as stated in the following: 

To mark the 300th anniversary of the publication of  Daniel Defoe’s famous novel Robinson Crusoe (1719), CETAPS (NOVA-FCSH) and the Portuguese National Library  organize, on the 14th and 15th October 2019, a conference to debate past and contemporary experience(s)  of forced migration, namely real, imaginary and imagined universes of refugees, exiled  and shipwrecked, conditions and positions metaphorised by the novelist in the characters Crusoe and Friday.
