We would like to inform you that the two 2025 issues of the Zeitschrift für Migrationsforschung / Journal of Migration Studies (ZMF) were published at the end of 2025. Vol 2025 (1) is a special issue dealing with Jochen Oltmer’s concept of Negotiating Migration (an introduction, one essay and five discussion papers): 

The Laboratory for Studies and Research on Gender, Environment, Religion, and Migration (GERM) at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis, Senegal, would like to invite you participate in the International Symposium to be held in Saint-Louis on March 27 and 28, 2026, on the theme: “Migration and Climate in Africa: Emerging Dynamics and Challenges for the Future.”

Utrecht University’s Migration and Societal Change research network is organising a seminar that broadly outlines how Latin American states design and tweak their immigration and citizenship regimes. These regimes entail state-defined rules and procedures that determine a foreign resident’s rights and legal status. 

The Studio Europa Maastricht (SEM) Research Calls 2026 are now open for applications! 

Tesearchers from across UM faculties are invited to apply for seed funding for:

The Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at KU Leuven University is a vibrant community of 8 lecturers, 12 postdoctoral scholars, and 40 PhD students. 

This doctoral project explores the links between African migration, genetics, and public health, by focusing on chronic kidney disease (CKD), a major and growing global health burden. 

A call for proposals to field a module of questions in Round 14 (2029/30) of the European Social Survey (ESS) is now open until Monday 27 April. This open competition offers teams of researchers the chance to include up to 30 questions on a single academic area and/or policy concern within Europe. 

The Research and Expertise Centre for Survey Methodology (RECSM) is now accepting expressions of interest for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship in Survey Methodology. All details are available here.
