ITEM is proud to announce the public PhD defense of ITEM researcher Sander Kramer on Friday 8th December 2023 at 13.00h.

International Migration Review is seeking a new Book Review Editor. IMR publishes 30 to 40 book reviews a year in three different formats: single book reviews, author conversations and review essays. 

Several MACIMIDE researchers contributed to the first anthology of creative nonfiction by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) at Maastricht University. The anthology uses the techniques of creative writing to bring research to life for a non-specialist readership. 

Melissa Siegel has published a new YouTube video on the culture of migration. This term is often used in migration studies but not always defined. 

The Mobility Trajectories of Young Lives (MO-TRAYL) project has produced the first season of the MO-TRAYL podcast, which provides a platform for young people of migrant background to talk about their experiences with migration and mobility. The podcast brings to life several of the main research themes of the MO-TRAYL research project. 

The nominations for the 2024 Maria Ioannis Baganha Dissertation Award are open. The Network has awarded this prize annually since 2010 to stimulate and recognize excellent PhD research in the field of migration studies. This award is dedicated to the late Maria Ioannis Baganha, the leading migration scholar at the Centre for Social Studies (CES) at the University of Coimbra and one of the IMISCOE founders. 

The Journal of Refugee Studies (JRS) is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal featuring original, high-quality research related to diverse aspects of forced migration. The journal is recruiting a new Associate Editor who will work with the JRS Co-Editors on the journal’s Field Reflections section. 

Dr. Julia Reinold recently joined the MACIMIDE Executive Board. Julia works as a postdoctoral researcher at Studio Europa.
