Visit to the Swiss Development Cooperation

On 9 January 2020, Prof. Melissa Siegel and Nava Hinrichs travelled to Bern, Switzerland to discuss past and future migration work with representatives of the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC). They gave a presentation about the research conducted by members of the Migration and Development Research Group on the impact of hosting Congolese Refugees in Rwanda, including how refugees affect social life in host communities, how refugee camps influence local labour market activity and economic welfare, and how the education of local children is influenced by living near a refugee camp.
