Vacancy: Researcher in Migration, COMPAS
COMPAS is seeking to appoint a researcher (one full-time or two part-time positions), fixed-term until 28 February 2017, based on the Banbury Road, Oxford. The role is a Grade 6 or Grade 7 dependent on qualifications.
You will be a part of the Migration Observatory, a project that provides independent and authoritative analysis and accessible data on migration and migration policy issues in the UK. You will have responsibility for producing high-quality analysis of UK migration, including: (1) writing briefings and responding to media requests on migration data; (2) updating existing material in the Migration Observatory website; (3) and providing support for different Migration Observatory outputs. You will also take a key role in exploring how to maximise the potential of our existing resources to produce informative, attractive and interactive representations of migration data.
We would consider underfilling the role for a suitable candidate, and make suitable adjustments to the role until they have developed.
You will be expected to have relevant academic qualifications and experience of working with quantitative data, including large data sets. You must have experience working with STATA, excellent knowledge of quantitative social scientific methods, and experience in conducting analysis with those methods and presenting results. Familiarity with UK migration data and the Labour Force Survey (in the UK or other country) is desirable.
