Oxford Department of International Development, Queen Elizabeth House, 3 Mansfield Road, Oxford
Grade 8: £39,324 – £46,924 p.a. (pro rata)
Forced Migration Review seeks a new Co-Editor. Forced Migration Review (FMR www.fmreview.org) is a renowned international magazine on refugees and internal displacement published by the Refugee Studies Centre (Oxford Department of International Development). It is managed by two Co-Editors who share responsibility for the management and implementation of all aspects of FMR.
The duties and responsibilities of the Co-Editors fall into two main areas: planning, editing, producing, distributing and promoting FMR in its four language editions (English, Arabic, Spanish and French); and securing funding for all aspects of the work, including the salary costs for all FMR staff. Apart from the two Co-Editors, there are two other part-time staff in the FMR team.
Applicants should have a degree or equivalent preferably in social sciences; excellent editing and writing skills in English, along with good proof-reading skills; demonstrable skills in promotion, fundraising and communication; demonstrable ability to prepare and manage budgets; good IT skills; experience of line management; and knowledge and experience of forced migration/development issues. You will be at ease liaising with researchers, policymakers and practitioners around the world, and working as a member of a small, tight-knit team in Oxford. Proficiency in Spanish, French and/or Arabic would be an advantage.
The position is part-time (80% FTE). Working arrangements can be flexible but the postholder will be required to work in the Oxford office on several days each week.
Only applications received before 12.00 midday on 1 March 2017 can be considered.
Interviews for this post will take place on Wednesday 22 March 2017.
