Vacancy: Deputy Editor – Forced Migration Review 

Full time, fixed term (one year in first instance, expectation of renewal subject to funding)

Internationally renowned publication Forced Migration Review (FMR) seeks an experienced Deputy Editor.

FMR (www.fmreview.org) is published by the Refugee Studies Centre in English, Arabic, French and Spanish, online and in print. The Deputy Editor will work closely with the Managing Editor on editing, production, promotion and fundraising to ensure FMR maintains its position as one of the leading publications globally in the field of Forced Migration. Over the coming year, the team will be implementing a dynamic new digital strategy while continuing to publish high-quality issues of FMR on important themes such as Climate Change, and Knowledge, Voice and Power.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent preferably in the social sciences; excellent editing and writing skills in English, and excellent proof-reading skills; demonstrable skills in communication and promotion; strong digital skills and some experience using website content management systems, social media platforms and web analytics; demonstrable financial literacy and some experience of budget preparation; familiarity with translation issues, preferably with a second language; and knowledge and experience of forced migration/development issues. You will be at ease liaising with our contacts around the world, be able to work to deadlines, have great organisational skills and an eye for detail, and enjoy working as a member of a small, tight-knit team. Proficiency in Spanish, French and/or Arabic would be an advantage.

There are two (part-time) assistants supporting the FMR team.
