VACANCIES: 3 POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHERS (60%) FOR A 21 MONTHS APPOINTMENT

The Swiss Network for International Studies SNIS funded project Individual-Level Attitudes towards Immigrants over Time and across Contexts aims to enhance the understanding of individuals’ attitudes towards foreigners and immigrants. The project brings together researchers from economics, political science, social psychology, and sociology, and is managed by the University of Neuchâtel.

To complete the research team they are seeking:

3 Postdoctoral Researchers (60%) for a 21 months appointment

The successful applicants are expected to carry out research on individual-level attitudes towards immigrants and how they develop over time, using panel data from Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland (project description).

Requirements:

    – PhD in economics, political science, social psychology, or sociology
    – Excellent skills in quantitative data analysis
    – Experience with statistical software (e.g. Stata, R, Mplus)
    – Interest in migration issues
    – Demonstrated ability to publish in international peer-reviewed journals

Working language is English. Experience of panel data analysis would be an asset, as would be knowledge of one of the Swiss national languages or perhaps Dutch.

The positions are based at the University of Neuchâtel (Swiss Forum for Migration and Population Studies with Didier Ruedin and Marco Pecoraro), University of Geneva (Geneva School of Economics and Management with Tobias Müller, this position can possibly be complemented with another postdoctoral position on the political economy of immigration policy in Switzerland, financed by the SNSF nccr on the move), and University of Oxford (Merton College with Sergi Pardos-Prado, 1 position each). Depending on the profile, working at University of Lausanne (Laboratory of Social Psychology with Eva G.T. Green) is an option.
