Student Assistant Information Management at the Danish Refugee Council (Copenhagen)
Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Student Assistant to support the expansion of the mixed migration activities in the Europe region as a part of DRC’s Mixed Migration Centre.
Tasks
Europe is an important region for people in mixed migration flows departing from Asia, the Middle East and Africa and migrating to European countries in search for protection and better living standards. The Mixed Migration Centre (MMC) Europe, which is part of, and governed by DRC, focuses on data collection, research, analysis and policy development on mixed migration issues in Europe region. The core project in the region is the Mixed Migration Monitoring Mechanism Initiative (4Mi) (http://www.mixedmigration.org/4mi/) implemented through partner agencies in Italy and Greece. The purpose of the student assistant role is to support MMC Europe with the 4Mi data collection and analysis through information management tasks.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- To support the partner agencies in Italy and Greece with data validation and cleaning processes in line with global 4Mi standards
- To perform regular quality assurance of the 4Mi data collected by the partner agencies and ensure compliance with global 4Mi standards
- To support the analysis of the 4Mi data and development of key knowledge products (4Mi snapshot reports and Quarterly Mixed Migration Updates) with charts and infographics by turning data into graphic products to facilitate the dissemination of information to internal and external stakeholders
- To work on the layout of the knowledge products ensuring the attractiveness and clarity of the information
- To support the partner agencies and data collection monitors with any technical assistance needed
- Play a key role in supporting the transition to a new data collection platform (Ona) in collaboration with the global 4Mi team
- To support the Mixed Migration Coordinator in Europe region with identifying research gaps in the region
Requirements
- That you are enrolled at a University at a relevant Bachelor or Master programme such as Data Science, Information Management, Statistics and available to work 7 hours per week next to your studies
- Knowledge and interest in international relations, global development and mixed migration dynamics particularly in a European setting
- That you have proven capacity from your studies or previous student job in operating large data sets and perform basic statistics
- That you have experience with layout of knowledge products and know how to produce attractive charts and infographics based on data analyzed
- Proficiency in Excel and (desirable) statistical analysis software such as SPSS and/or Stata
- Have excellent communication & coordination skills
- That you are a team player and can work with team members remotely
- Written and verbal fluency in English
- It is an advantage if you have previous experience with the data collection platform ‘Ona’
