Dr Sonja Fransen has received a Comprehensive Innovation grant from UNU-MERIT to study ‘Climate Vulnerabilities in Refugee Camps’. The two-year research project will provide empirical insights into the vulnerabilities of refugee camp locations and camp residents to climatic events, both rapid and slow onset, and identify and evaluate innovative policy strategies that can be used to reduce these vulnerabilities. The research team consists of junior, mid-level and senior researchers from the Migration and Development and Social Protection research groups at UNU-MERIT.
