The Canada Excellence Research Chair, external link (CERC) in Migration and Integration at Ryerson University (www.ryerson.ca) invites applications for Senior Research Associates.

The CERC offers an opportunity to pursue new research, develop leadership potential, and collaborate internationally with Professor Anna Triandafyllidou, external link, awarded the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Migration and Integration, and pioneering researcher in the governance of migration, cultural diversity and nationalism.

Senior Research Associates will be expected to begin residency at Ryerson in Toronto, Canada, in fall 2020 for a minimum period of one year, with possibility of renewal.

The CERC is beginning a seven-year research agenda, on an international scale, in the following thematic areas:

  1. Migration Trends
  2. Migrant Agency, Stakeholders, Networks and Institutions
  3. Comparative Analysis of Migration and Integration Policies and their Outcomes
  4. Addressing the Role of Cities in Managing Diversity
  5. Thinking Forward: Migration Challenges for Canada and the World in 2050

The successful candidate(s) will work in close collaboration with the CERC Professor Anna Triandafyllidou to develop one of the above listed thematic research clusters.

We are particularly interested for candidates working in:

  • Migrant Agency, Stakeholders, Networks and Institutions: with a special focus on transnationalism, the role of origin and transit countries, reconceptualizing migration and mobility, and comparative research on migration management and migrant integration processes in Canada but also other world regions (such as Europe, Asia, South and Central America, Asia Pacific and Africa).
  • Addressing the role of Cities in Managing Diversity: with a special focus on interdisciplinary research on urban development, migrant inclusion, and the role of cities at local, national and transnational level. Again focus on both Canada and other countries/world regions, and an interest in comparative research is most welcome.

Successful candidates must hold a PhD and have at least three years of post-doctoral experience in migration and integration research.
