Seminar: Hacking anti-immigration attitudes and stereotypes: A randomised intervention in Italian high-schools (hybrid)
The next EUI Migration Policy Centre (MPC) seminar will welcome Professor of Economics Mariapia Mendola (University of Milan-Bicocca). She will present findings on how a brief educational program for high school students, designed to promote cultural diversity, can help correct anti-immigrant attitudes rooted in stereotypes and prejudice.
The research results suggest that the intervention reduced students’ misperceptions and shifted their perceived norms around immigration, though it had no impact on implicit bias, empathy, or social contacts.
