Pre-Doctoral Researcher in Survey Methodology at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF, Barcelona, Spain), Department of Social and Political Sciences, Research and Expertise Center for Survey Methodology (RECSM).

The pre-doctoral research fellow will work in the project titled “New opportunities to enhance or extend (mobile) web survey data and get better insights. This project has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. “WEB DATA OPP” under the close supervision of Dr. Melanie Revilla [https://scholar.google.es/citations?user=EyVpursAAAAJ&hl=fr&oi=ao].

The main goal of this project is to investigate how four new measurement opportunities that the growing presence of mobile devices made possible (namely voice input, visual data, metered data, and in-the-moment surveys) can help scientists and practitioners to get more accurate and/or more complete insights.

The selected pre-doctoral researcher is expected to complete a PhD during the duration of the project (maximum 4 years). The topic of the PhD should be fully in line with the project. More precisely, the candidate should focus on the use of visual data within the frame of (mobile) web surveys and/or on in-the-moment surveys triggered by metered data or by GPS data. The selected candidate is expected to apply to the PhD program of the Department of Social and Political Sciences at UPF (see https://www.upf.edu/web/doctorats/admissions), even if alternatives could be considered. Main tasks: Designing surveys and experiments, reviewing the literature, testing the surveys before data collection; organizing and supervising data collection; analysing the data; generating manuscripts for publication in international journals; giving presentations at academic and professional meetings; and helping on any tasks related with the project when needed. All tasks will be supervised by Dr. Melanie Revilla.
