Invitation – Launch Event of the Missing Migrants Project (MMP) MENA 2024 Report
You are cordially invited to the launch of the Missing Migrants Project (MMP) MENA 2024 Report, titled:
Lives in Transit: Towards Safer Migration Routes
Al-Falaki Theatre, The American University in Cairo – Tahrir Campus
Wednesday, 21 May 2025
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
This event is co-organised by the IOM Regional Data Hub for the Middle East and North Africa (RDH), the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies at AUC, and MedFest.
The 2024 MMP MENA Report sheds light on the human toll of irregular migration across the region’s most dangerous routes. Behind each number is a life lost, a family left without answers, and a growing need for safer, rights-based migration systems. Through updated data, regional analysis, and real stories, this report underscores the urgent need for action.
Event Highlights:
- Launch of IOM’s MENA 2024 Report on Migrant Deaths and Disappearances
- Short documentary screening on the risks of irregular migration
- Expert panel discussion: Lives in Transit: Data, Media Framing, and Protection Mechanisms
- Networking and light lunch
