IMISCOE Short Reader on Migrant Transnationalism

We want to bring the Short Reader on Migrant Transnationalism to your attention, published within the IMISCOE Research Network series with Springer. It’s a co-authored monograph by Özge Bilgili & Marta Bivand Erdal.

The short reader is open access and you can download the book using this link. With this book the authors want to “convey the value of a transnational lens, or a transnational perspective, as a critically important analytical, conceptual and methodological tool, not only for migration research, but for making sense of the world we live in”.

The book consists of sections on (1) ‘What is migrant transnationalism?’, (2) ‘Approaching migrant transnationalism’, (3) ‘Economic, Sociocultural and Political transnationalism’, (4) ‘Migrant transnationalism meets integration’, (5) ‘Methodological approaches to the study of migrant transnationalism’ and (6) ‘Conclusion: Beyond ‘Migrant’ Transnationalism?

Feel free to have a look at it and share it with your students who are interested in cross-border relationships and critically moving beyond the nation state perspective in studies of migration, mobility and social inclusion. The book is written with the intention of giving a solid foundation to those who are interested in the field and reflecting on considerations for sound and equitable research.
