Goodbye to MACIMIDE Executive Coordinator Dr. Costica Dumbrava

MACIMIDE recently said goodbye to its Executive Coordinator, Dr. Costica Dumbrava who is taking up a position as Policy Analyst at the European Parliamentary Research Service.

Costica has been with us from the very foundation of MACIMIDE in 2013 and has been a key player in the integration of the over 100 researchers spread out over the different faculties at Maastricht University. He reliably supported the Executive Board and its Co-Directors in managing the day-to-day affairs of MACIMIDE, organized among others the junior and senior visiting fellowships, various conferences, and was responsible for all communication through our website and bi-weekly newsletters.

In addition to his coordinating tasks, Costica has taught various courses and supervised theses in the BA and MA European Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He also published a Palgrave Macmillan monograph and various journal articles on his research on nationality, citizenship and ethno-national belonging. Furthermore, Costica co-authored a benchmarking study on statelessness protection and he developed an exciting new research line on citizenship and technology.

We will miss Costica but wish him all the best in his new position in Brussels.

Part of Costica’s responsibilities will be taken over by our new Assistant Coordinator, Luca Bücken. We look forward to working together with Luca.
