Migration experiences are diverse and complex. This lecture will take a look at how sex, gender, gender identity and sexual orientation shape every stage of the migration experience. I will in particular discuss some of less researched phenomena, such as the gendered role of corruption throughout the journey.
About the speaker
Dr. Ortrun Merkle is a post-doctoral researcher working on corruption, gender and migration. Her research focuses on the relationship of corruption and migration and pays particular attention to gendered forms of corruption such as Sextortion.
