The presentation addresses the relationship between transnational practices and migrant entrepreneurship, focusing more closely on migrant entrepreneurs who own a business spanning across borders (i.e. transnational migrant entrepreneurship), and comparing them with the general category of migrant entrepreneurs – those focusing on the domestic market in their chosen country of immigration – (i.e. domestic migrant entrepreneurs). The presentation is based on Giacomo Solano’s doctoral dissertation which illustrated the case of Moroccan entrepreneurs in Amsterdam and Milan (N=70). The study explored how those migrant entrepreneurs who own a cross-border business identify and seize business opportunities. The goal was to understand how this group diverges from the general category of migrant entrepreneurs and what the different patterns are of transnational immigrant entrepreneurship.
