On 12 September 2014 dr. Lies Wesseling accepted the special “Opzij” chair “Cultural Memory, Gender and Diversity” at Maastricht University. Her Inaugural lecture was entitled “Verwantschap weven: Vertelpraktijken en culturele herinnering in transnationale adoptie” (The Weaving of Family: Narrative Practices and Cultural Remembrance in Transnational Adoption).
