The European Migration Network, cordially invites you to participate in the EMN 10 Year Anniversary conference: ‘Understanding Migration in the EU: past, present, future’.

Please register online by 30 April 2018 at the latest. EMN NCPs/Steering Board: please only register two representatives of your EMN NCP to the conference + one Steering Board member per country.

Conference overview

This event will mark the 10 year anniversary of the establishment of the European Migration Network. The conference will welcome high-level speakers from a diverse range of European and international organisations. In a balanced debate, the speakers will share their perspectives on migration and asylum policy, reflecting on lessons learned over the past decade and how these experiences can shape the future of migration policy and practice. The speakers will address and debate the following issues:

  • Migration – from crisis management to future-proofed policies
  • Data and trends – the fundamentals of migration management
  • Public opinion and trust in EU migration policy
  • The next 10 years in European migration policy: seizing opportunities and avoiding pitfalls?

The 2017 EMN Annual Report on Migration and Asylum, which provides the most recent developments and latest statistics across all migration and asylum fields, will be launched at this event. A new publication, the EMN 10 Year Anniversary Report will also be made available to participants. This report will highlight key developments in migration and asylum over the past decade and explore the EMN’s role in providing up-to-date, objective, reliable and comparable information on migration and asylum, and its impact on policymaking in the European Union and public debate.

Who will attend the conference?

Senior policymakers from the European Commission and the European Parliament, European Agencies, Member State Permanent Representatives, researchers, members of IGOs and NGOs and other members of civil society will join the EMN National Contact Points at the EMN’s 10 Year Anniversary conference.

 

Practical information

The conference will take place on Tuesday 15 May 2018 at the Renaissance Brussels Hotel, Rue du Parnasse 19, 1050 Brussels, Belgium.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please complete the online registration form by 30 April 2018.

Registration on the day of the conference will open at 08:45 (CET) and the conference will close at 17:15. You will need to show your ID to enter the conference venue.

Tea/coffee and light refreshments will be served on arrival. A buffet lunch will be offered to the participants.

This event will be in English only. Interpretation will not be available on this occasion.
