Call for Papers: Masterclass on European and Comparative Migration Law with Kees Groenendijk 

Giessen, 20 November 2015, 9:00–16:00

The Faculty of Law and the Giessen Graduate Centre for Social Sciences, Business, Economics and Law at Justus Liebig University Giessen will host a Masterclass on European and Comparative Migration Law with Kees Groenendijk. Professor Groenendijk is a former Professor of Sociology of Law at Radboud University Nijmegen. He is a pioneer and leading academic of legal scholarship on the Europeanisation of migration law and policy that builds on interdisciplinary knowledge. Professor Groenendijk is co-founder and director of the leading European research institution in the field, the Center for Migration Law (CMR) at the University of Nijmegen.

The Masterclass addresses PhD students in social sciences, economics or law who are working on issues of migration law or the governance of migration processes, including studies on refugee movements and on citizenship and participation in immigration societies. Selected PhD students will have the opportunity to present their research project, or parts of it, and get expert feedback. In addition, Professor Groenendijk will give a talk on a current topic of European migration law and policy. The working language of the Masterclass will be English. Discussion papers or exposés may be drafted in German or English.

The selection of the PhD students who are invited to present their research project will be based on an abstract of no more than 500 words and a CV. The deadline for filing an application is 15 October 2015. Please provide information on the project‘s state of development und indicate the parts or aspects you would like to discuss.
