AI Tool – Responsibility-sharing for refugees in Europe

An IT tool developed at the University of Neuchâtel makes it possible to map the geographical distribution of asylum seekers and beneficiaries of temporary protection in Europe. It to calculate what a “fair” geography of protection would look like, taking into account population size, GDP and various other factors. It is particularly relevant in light of the responsibility-sharing provisions of the 2024 EU Asylum Pact. It could contribute to discussions on a common protection policy at European level.
