20/04/2022 – Christophe Leclerc will defend his PhD thesis on ‘Naturalisation and residential environment of immigrants in the Netherlands‘

Christophe Leclerc will defend his thesis called ‘Naturalisation and residential environment of immigrants in the Netherlands‘ on Wednesday 20 April 2022 at 10.00 in the Aula at Minderbroedersberg 4-6. You are cordially invited to attend the defence in-person, or online via this link.

In his thesis, Christophe studies the interplay between naturalisation and immigrants’ residential context in the Netherlands. The thesis uses administrative data from Statistics Netherlands in order to follow the settlement process of immigrants living in the Netherlands from 1996 to 2016.

Using advanced statistical methods, it investigates various socio-economic factors, measured at both the individual and the neighbourhood level, and assesses the relation between citizenship acquisition and the characteristics of immigrants’ place of residence.

The findings of this thesis are relevant to all researchers and policy makers working in the fields of citizenship studies and neighbourhood effects but also to anyone interested in better understanding immigrants’ settlement process.
