18/09/2024 – Humanising narratives around migration

MIDEQ and PositiveNegatives are hosting a film screening, panel discussion and networking event at RichMix in London on 18 September. Xenophobic attitudes and racialised portrayals of people who migrate are the dominant narratives in our contemporary media and political discussions. At the same time, those who are most affected often have the least power and access to public platforms to effectively challenge them.

Framing a panel discussion around two animated films, this event will explore how artists and advocacy can help challenge anti migrant narratives; centring narratives that have been co-produced by people who have migrated and researchers from the Global South.

Panellists, including speakers from Migrant Voices and Counterpoints Arts, will discuss challenges and opportunities associated with generating new narratives, working creatively and collaboratively with migrants, researchers and artists as well as centring migrant voices and experiences.

Registration is now open. More details and the registration link can be found on this page.
