17/06/2016: ITEM Workshop “Towards a Euregional market of transactions in immovable property and hypothecary financing”
ITEM Workshop
Towards a Euregional market of transactions in immovable property and hypothecary financing
On 17 June 2016, Maastricht University’s interdisciplinary Institute for Transnational and Euregional cooperation and Mobility / ITEM is organising a workshop on the Euregional market of transactions in immovable property and hypothecary financing.
After more than half a century of European integration, this market still is in its infancy. The transfer of immovable property is often a matter that only involves national lawyers and notaries. Also cross-border hypothecary financing rarely occurs. However, consumers and companies can greatly profit from the development of an integrated market.
The workshop will focus on the practical aspects of cross-border immovable property transactions and the financing thereof within the Euregion Limburg and intends to get an insight into how notaries, banks and land registries collaborate at this moment to cross-border transfer and finance immovable property.
